I know this is common amongst some asian communities (just surely their babies would tend to have plentiful hair anyhow, even if it was unshaved?) - do y'all think that it tin can really help make the hair thicker/ more plentiful?

No. What an odd proffer.

Vaguely Lord's day 03-May-09 20:07:00

i think it might announced thicker maybe
ive never heard it suggested tbh (or never taken it in at least)
just people say that shaving legs and pits makes the hair thicker dont they. and thats to practise with the ends being blunter and sharper, no?

Shaving/ grading the hair gets rid of the wispy ends and creates a blunt end on the hair which gives the illusion of thicker pilus. Doesn't encourage extra hair to grow though. Babies should have wispy fluffy hair.

No it doesn't brand any difference, just as having your hair cut doesn't make it grow back faster.
Ane of my Asian friends suggested it for baldy ds, but I decided against it!

i have heard of this before, simply dont come across how information technology would piece of work, shaving your pilus anywhere does non stimulate hair growth. also cant imagine that a baby would be very happy to have hair clippers/razor anywhere almost them.

TheNatty Sun 03-May-09 20:14:41

i have heard this before, and i dont think it would work.
tis i of those very odd one-time wives tales i think, much like the one about potatos in pregnancy causing colic. hmm

jennifersofia Dominicus 03-May-09 20:14:41

Logically I can see that it wouldn't piece of work, but my dd has such wispy pilus (which is absolutely lovely now, but not and then great in my firstborn who is now 8) that I keep thinking 'but what if it did make it thicker?'

TheProvincialLady Sun 03-May-09 20:xv:09

I doubt it would and TBH I can't retrieve of anything sadder than caring plenty about the thickness of a infant's hair - a BABY FFS - to shave its poor little head.

Vaguely Sun 03-May-09 20:nineteen:03

oh i incertitude anyone shaving a infant's head would do it in such a way as to upset the infant; i wouldnt presume that any parent with a shaven headed baby was some kind of monster.

jennifersofia Dominicus 03-May-09 20:nineteen:26

It is not that I remember she would be more beautiful if she had thicker pilus, it is merely that in my eldest it has bothered her that her hair is extremely fine and but does not grow very much at all. I recollect her at 3 years old pleading to take her hair in a bunch but at that place was about no hair there to get in work.
When people have shaved the babies hair it is done using clippers, not a razor, and it does not hurt the baby.

KingCanuteIAm Sun 03-May-09 20:xx:xiv

Trimming the ends of hair to get rid of the whispy $.25 (as said above) makes information technology appear thicker. Shaving does not make pilus abound thicker.

Think about information technology, balding men shave their heads, does the hair grow dorsum thicker? Blokes shave their heads for fashion, does it grow back thicker?

I am not sure if/why people in asian communities do this but I would doubtable information technology is more than religion/tradition/cleanliness than thickness and fullness!

at present ear piercing on a baby... thats Not Nice.
im certain ii parents could shave a babys head in the bath without them even knowing anything was going on.

TheProvincialLady Sun 03-May-09 21:09:35

No no I don't assume anyone shaving a baby'south head would exist a monster, of course non. I suppose I get cantankerous at the uncomfortable things people make their babies wear/gel on hair/ear piercing etc and thought that this was yet another thing of that kind. Sorry to have jumped to the wrong conclusion.

My friend is from Republic of bolivia, and its tradition at that place to do it. Her kids accept very thick hair, but that could just be their genes!

DS2 was built-in with a mop of long black hair. After six weeks it was and then long we had to cut it with clippers (he had eczema behind his ears and the pilus was getting stuck in it).
Underneath the dark hair was much lighter hair. Now (at ix.five months) he had fine whispy blonde hair, and lots of information technology. Merely not as much as his "first" pilus.

SOLOisMeredithGrey Mon 04-May-09 01:18:00

My mum and her sisters had/have fine 'nothingy' hair and mums younger sister was scalded on her head equally a very immature kid. She had to have her hair shaved off and it became beautifully thick when information technology grew back. Mum wishes she had such locks!

I was going to shave Dd'southward pilus off to thicken it upwardly, simply couldn't make up my mind equally I didn't want her soft curls turning into thick afro type pilus(like her fathers hair). Her hair, although fine still, is condign more than full looking, then I think I did the right affair.

I believe that it does aid thicken the pilus upwardly, just don't really know why

I am one-half greek cypriot,my english mum told me that the greek cypriots used to shave babies heads because they believed it would make the hair grow back thick and curly.

I shaved my 10 month old sons hair terminal week because it was getting in his confront and growing different lengths all over I didn't make him completely bald I did information technology with a number v it's growing back but I wouldn't say thicker but growing dorsum at 1 length I regretted it as soon as I shaved his hair I hope information technology grows dorsum the same to whatsoever parent who is planning to do information technology don't shave it possibly simply trim with rummage and pair of scissors

Hi all,

Human logic is limited so logical theories are not always right. Science is unlimited but nosotros simply know so much.

Like fruits are good for y'all but keep consuming them like that and you lot volition terminate up with high blood glucose.
Shaving the babe hair (razor) definitely makes information technology thicker. The brain/immune system just naturally makes it thick, information technology'southward like why we have pollen allergy.

Science is a contradiction loop, what they said years ago, years subsequently they say different.

Freshchapter Tue 30-Jul-19 00:12:37

If balding men shaved hair it will not grow quicker because their brain/immune system has already adjusted.
Shaving babies hair when they are newborn upwards until the commencement year will have thicker hair guaranteed. Likewise get your babe to eat or gustatory modality everything a few times (consumable foods I mean) by the age of 3 and they will take a loftier chance not to get allergic reaction to that food. Later on in life the encephalon/allowed system controls us not us command them that's because you take to go it adapted in the start place not when your older!
This is aboriginal ways going dorsum to when we lived in the jungle concrete land.
Nosotros're so regulated when meaning and giving birth and beyond and even so it's more dangerous this twenty-four hours and historic period but earlier people were less regulated and kids were less ill less diseases.
